Clayburn Village

A gorgeous Saturday morning. Check.
A trio of seasoned road-trippers. Check.
A quick carwash before we head out of town. Check.
A destination: Clayburn Village in Abbotsford, BC. Check

Entrance to the Petrocanada 'disco soap' carwash.

Get your tire in that track or you ain't going anywhere.

'Disco soap' hitting the windshield.

High power fans blow drying our ride. (or is it blowing dry?)

The 10 lane Port Mann Cable-Stayed Bridge.

Moving shot as we passed under one of the cable-stays.

Clayburn was established in 1905 when high grade clay was discovered all in and around the Suam Mountains.

The General Store is the Village of Clayburn's main attraction.

Patricia Haber (owner/operator) and her extended family run the General Store that I think we all fell in love with.
They carry an amazing assortment of sweets and goodies for young and old. (and a first time go at Cornish Pasties for this happy customer.)

Clayburn Village General Store

Clayburn Village General Store l.

Clayburn Village General Store ll.

Natural archway to the ruins of the old brick factory or Narnia or Hobbiton Village.

Not quite ripe cherries or kill-you-instantly berries?

A portion of the old factory being reclaimed by nature.

We speculated that these may have been ovens to bake the clay bricks.

Luscious green canopy swaying over the old factory site.

An archeological find! An origina Clayburn brick just sticking out of the path that ran the periphery of the fenced-off factory ruins.

And what's a nice nature walk if you don't come across the elusive wild tire in its natural habitat?

Here's Rosie, the day's show stealer.

Possibly the cutest donkey I've ever met!

The wonderful markings down her back and across her shoulderblades.

Nothing hits the spot like an old fashioned ice cream cone on a hot day like today.

Admiring the side of the General Store building while sitting in their private little garden enjoying our ice cream cones.

A chance view of a still snow covered Mount Baker before we hit the highway home.

It was a wonderful day.
