A typically lovely Sunday morning, perfect for a drive. We headed straight to the suburbs of Vancouver. Enjoying the lack of traffic on side streets and lesser arteries. We stopped at The Mighty Oak https://themightyoak.ca/ on W 18th in the heart of Mount Pleasant for a couple of delicious coffees and treats. From there we moved closer to downtown. We got as far as Vancouver City Hall. Sadly, I only took a few telephoto shots of the back of the building when we got there.
Originally, Vancouver's City Hall was downtown on Main street just south of the Carnegie Library.
With a construction cost of one million dollars, a new City hall was built on W 12th Avenue in 1936, making it the first major Canadian city hall to be located outside the city's downtown core.
It is a beautiful example of the Art Deco age of architecture and was named a Schedule A Heritage Building in 1976.
I am so regretting not dedicating this entire trip to taking a 360° view of building!!!
I hope we can make a second trip down there just to focus (no pun intended) on getting shots of the rest of the stunning building from all sides (and closer)!
A few snaps of our trip there and back...
