A Sunny April Monday (Burnaby)

Finally! A day off. What to do? Trying to ignore the recent insane gas prices, we hopped in the car, stopped for one of our traditional early morning breakfast and then took a pleasant early drive around town before the streets started getting congested with holiday drivers. One does not have to 'hit the open road' to step out in nature. There are dozens of urban parks all around greater Vancouver.

We stopped briefly at Burnaby's Taylor Park to see if we could get a clear view of a Gulf Island or two. We could see one peak on the island was till snow capped. After Taylor Park, we headed off to see if we could find a view of Mount Cheam. But we were side tracked and instead pulled over and explored a local park in another corner of Burnaby. Once we stepped off the sidewalk and onto the paths, it felt like we were transported to a wilderness forest. Our search for the ultimate view of Mount Cheam will have to wait for another early morning jaunt and hopefully clear skies.

Modern architecture in the area.

A view of Capitol Hill.
The Lions just beyond the North Shore mountains.
(excuse the blur - shot from a moving car)

Spring has indeed sprung.
Tree shadows across the path.
Gnarly tree tops.

Right beside our carport.

Time now to read over the list of local parks we are interested in visiting next. Time to charge the camera battery, give the lenses a good cleaning and keep an eye on the gas prices until next early morning breakfast and local photo safari.
