Burnaby Village Museum Part One

Another Sunday drive but with a later departure than usual as we were heading to a local destination whose doors didn't open until 11:00 a.m. [closed on Mondays]
The Burnaby Village Museum, once known as 'Heritage Village', Is refered to as an 'open-air museum'.

The village consists of an assortment of herigate and replica building depicting village life in the early 1900s. There are 31 full scale buildings that sit on ten acres of land. When first opened in 1971 it only had 4.3 acres of land. It has grown considerably. The museum was opened by Governor General of Canada at the time the Right Honourable Roland Michener.

We only made it around half of the village - with plans to go back and see the rest in the near future.

Here are some snaps of this visit.

An organic community garden

What lovely weather we're having - even though it's bordering on heatwave territory. I suppose we better prepair ourselved because it's only going to get hotter without much of a break in sight.

Sunday morning was sunny, the sky was a brilliant blue and a perfect breeze kept the opressive heat at bay.

I was delighted when we stopped by the Coquitlam Organic Community Garden. It was an eruption of greens with pockets of colourful flowers. Beautiful fresh grown foods nearly spilled over the garden allotments.

Afterward, we had a lovely coffee and cookies outside on a makeshift patio then headed home, taking a little side trip through the beautiful homes of Queen's Park. We both agreed that there was an adorable yellow cottage that we'd move into in a flash.

Here are some of the shots.
